About the Project
Brief Description
Upcycling for a Greener Tomorrow is a youth exchange project that brings together 45 young people from Austria, Poland, North Macedonia, Portugal, and Bosnia & Herzegovina to explore sustainability through upcycling. Over the course of a week in Rettenegg, Austria, participants will engage in creative, hands-on workshops transforming waste materials into functional and artistic items. The project promotes environmental awareness, intercultural collaboration, and empowers youth to lead local sustainability initiatives after the exchange.
1. Environmental Sustainability
Promoting eco-conscious behavior through upcycling.
Raising awareness about waste reduction, recycling, and the circular economy.
Encouraging practical action to combat climate change.
2. Creative Upcycling & Skill Building
Teaching participants how to transform waste (glass, paper, cans) into functional or artistic items.
Developing hands-on, practical skills in sustainability and craftsmanship.
Stimulating innovation, creativity, and resourcefulness.
3. Intercultural Exchange & Inclusion
Bringing together youth from five different countries to foster cross-cultural understanding.
Promoting European values, mutual respect, and cultural diversity.
Creating inclusive spaces for equal participation regardless of background or gender.
4. Youth Empowerment & Leadership
Empowering participants to become local sustainability ambassadors.
Providing leadership opportunities during and after the exchange.
Supporting participants in organizing follow-up workshops and campaigns in their communities.
5. Digital Advocacy & Communication
Encouraging youth to create digital content (videos, social media posts) on sustainability.
Teaching digital storytelling and awareness-raising techniques.
Using online platforms to multiply the impact and reach of the project.
